Consistency...

In essence, if we want to direct our lives, we must take
control of our consistent actions. It's not what we do once in
a while that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently.

For changes to be of any true value, they've got to be lasting and
consistent.
Tony Robbins

I found this quote online while surfing the internet. It stood out to me, because over the past few weeks my savings have decreased and my weight has increased. This is not consistent with the goals that I have set.

I stopped tracking what I was eating over the past two weeks and gained back 4 lbs. Ugh. I stopped being consistent in my actions, and the result was less than desirable.

The same is true with my goals for savings. I paid off all of my consumer debt over a year ago and decided that I would never be there again. I made a goal to get my emergency fund to at least 8 mos. If I had been consistent, I would have a lot more money in savings and I would be feeling much more secure than I do now. As long as I was not going into credit card debt, I thought I was doing okay. It's true that we have remained credit card debt free, (although we do have another car loan) but I'm afraid our savings has barely reached one month's emergency cash, let alone 8 mos.

It is obvious that consistency is a very important factor in helping to achieve your goals. I realize that even a small slip up can create chaotic results.

I will be tracking what I eat again, and I've set up an automatic savings plan that I will consistently contribute to.

But always following consistency is boring! LOL. You're right though. It is important to stay on top of things. Good for you for taking back control.

you are so right --- just jump back to normal & you will be well on your way --- it is so tough during the summer months!!! Things get a bit easier when school starts again... (so I hope this is true during the school year again!)

Always a balancing test, whether it is calories or pennies!!
